Constitution English Translation

The following is an unofficial translation of the Church Book of Constitution, Regulations, and Basic Teachings. Upon ratification by the General Conference, the translation will become official. In the meantime, as the project awaits approval, this translation serves to assist all legal obligations that might require the English version of our Book of Constitution, Regulations, and Basic Teachings.

THE FOURTH EDITION
The Conference of 1995 confirmed to continue the collation of the 1969 Constitution of the amended Constitution and Laws and the Edicts and the Constitution from 1970-1995 for those have become the Constitution.
And it was left to the Constitution Committee and for the following to collate that work: Lopeti Taufa, Sione Lepa To’a, Hon. Tevita Poasi Tupou, ‘Alisi Taumoepeau, Palavilala Tapueluelu, Simote Mesuilame Vea and ‘Alifeleti Mone. At the conclusion of this work, it was sent to the Conference that was held in Pangai, Ha’apai 1996.
We certify to the effect that the law clauses that are contained in this Constitution, are correct and were approved in a ballot by the Conference of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga at Ha’apai in the year 1996, and including the corrections that were approved by that Conference. And that Conference authorised this Constitution.
